McKinney, TX (July 13, 2016) – North Collin County Habitat for Humanity (NCC Habitat) and Martin Marietta combine efforts on the initiatives of affordable housing in north Collin County through a large donation of ready mix concrete to be used in three (3) home foundations being built by NCC Habitat. The donation represents a cost reduction of $36,000 for NCC Habitat, who typically buys the materials at a reduced rate.
The donation from Martin Marietta will cover three foundations of 100 yards per house. “We are honored to help strengthen the communities where we live and work, and partnering together with NCC Habitat enables us to build something with a lasting and meaningful impact,” stated Larry Roberts, President of the Southwest Division for Martin Marietta.
In addition to the Gift in Kind donation, a team of 14 Martin Marietta staff volunteered their efforts Saturday, June 25, 2016 in construction of the home being built at 1007 Healy in McKinney. Jill Raab, Vice President of Human Resources for the Southwest Division, shared, “Working together on projects such as the NCC Habitat construction deeply enriches the connection within our Martin Marietta team, and we receive tremendous benefit from the experience.”
“We are extremely grateful for partners, like Martin Marietta, who come along side us in the building affordable housing for those who need it in North Collin County,” said Celeste H. Cox. “With help from companies like Martin Marietta, we are working to build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.”
About North Collin County Habitat for Humanity
North Collin County Habitat for Humanity (NCC Habitat) is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles working to build strength, stability and self-reliance for families through shelter. We put God’s love into action by building homes and communities. We are dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide. We encourage positive relationships throughout the community by advocating for fair housing policies and by providing training to help families improve their shelter conditions.
Since 1991 NCC Habitat has enabled lower income families throughout northern Collin County (Anna, Blueridge, Celina, Farmersville, Frisco, McKinney, Melissa, Princeton, Prosper, Westminster, and Weston) to build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter. Habitat homeowners help build their homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With the help of partnerships, NCC Habitat has built over 100 houses in north Collin County.
We are also involved in a program called “A Brush With Kindness (ABWK)” where we help lower income families with exterior repairs including roof, siding, paint and general clean up. We’ve served 89 families and senior adults through this program. Internationally, NCC Habitat has built 34 homes in Mexico, Egypt, Costa Rica, Haiti, Asia Tsunami & Honduras.
Habitat also operates a ReStore that is open to the public Tuesday – Saturday. We sell new and gently used building materials and furniture to the public. More information is available at www.ncc-habitat.com and www.mckinneyerstore.com .
