Freshwater Bay Golf Club Recognised by Prestigious GolfMark Scheme

Freshwater Bay Golf Club is proud to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious GolfMark Award from England Golf. GolfMark is a national scheme that identifies and recognises junior and beginner friendly golf facilities and is only given to those clubs who can prove their commitment through a rigorous assessment procedure that needs to be renewed every three years.

Receiving notification of the Award from Beverley Huke, County Development Officer for the Hampshire Golf Partnership, officials at the Freshwater Bay Golf Club were told that the information they provided was extremely comprehensive and “second to none”. The Club was assessed in three main areas: Coaching & Playing, Club Environment (including sports equity & ethics) and Child Protection & Duty of Care and passed all with flying colours.
As well as being a GolfMark Club, Freshwater Bay is also now affiliated with Sport England as a ClubMark facility. This is a national standard for quality sports clubs recognised across the country.

Talking about the Awards, Club Secretary Kevin Garrett says: “We have always encouraged junior membership and have a thriving and successful Junior Section here at the Club. It is of great credit to members of the team here at Freshwater Bay that we achieved these Awards and working towards accreditation helped us review our procedures and further raise our standards.”

Freshwater Bay golf course, on the Isle of Wight, is one of the most spectacular courses in the UK. Set on the downlands overlooking the English Channel, this seaside links style golf course is 5,725 yards long, par 69 which provides a challenge for golfers of all abilities.

Visitors are most welcome and we provide very reasonable rates. Freshwater Bay is an ideal venue for society and corporate golf days and we believe that our combination of expertise and friendly hospitality will add to the enjoyment of your game, creating a memorable day for your members. We can also help with travel/ ferry information and accommodation if you are planning a longer visit.

We are a private club with full bar and catering facilities. Our clubhouse is friendly and relaxed and members are always available to provide advice on weather and playing conditions.

This is a beautiful part of the Isle of Wight , situated in the West Wight region and an excellent base for a holiday. Landmarks include Freshwater Bay, The Needles, Tennyson Down, Fort Victoria, Alum Bay Cliffs and Yarmouth Castle but there are other places like Newtown Creek - an unspoilt haven for wildlife, Hannover Point with it's dinosaur footprints on the rocks, the ancient standing stones at Mottistone and Hulverstone and beaches ranging from safe and sandy to wild and rocky! There are also half a dozen golf courses on the Isle of Wight - all within a 20 mile radius!
